Who are our main guys in NATM? Who do we root for? These are seperate questions with seperate answers.
Naoko ArcegaNaoko is a 39 year old transgender woman working her way through a normal life- by her standards. In this case, a normal life is one where an eldritch god has been stalking her every moment since the day she turned 12. Has an irrational fear of having her picture taken candidly. Despite being the matriarch of the family, she is also the most anxious, and takes pains to raise her children to work around whatever they believe their flaws to be. |
Joi ArcegaThe energetic 'younger' twin sister of Naoko; Joi is, in fact, Naoko's dissociative identity disorder alternate- formed five years before the events of NATM by her fear of cameras. Before moving to Asalia, Joi and Naoko had to compete fiercely for time with the body- Joi was a highly popular model/singer and was always in high demand, despite Naoko's chagrin as a teacher. After moving to Asalia, Joi assumed the position of the 'aunt' of the Arcega family. Most Asalia residents believe that Naoko and Joi are in two seperate bodies. |
Guy AngoraOnce previously a character from a very popular first person shooter game, Guy was abducted by the same god as Naoko around the same time. Alongside Emile, the three of them were forced to compete in an interdimensional game show where the prize was cash and freedom. Mysteriously, the show ended early, and Guy was allowed to choose to set aside his duty and return to a 'normal' life. He chose to do so and settled down with Naoko. Occasionally regrets his choice. |
Emile RhoadesAn amnesiatic man who washed up on the shores of Naoko's original world after the airing of 'Reformation'. He was a contestant the same as Naoko and Guy, but does not remember anything from his time on the show. At first, Naoko and Guy were hesitant to take him in (for reasons he does not know,) but eventually relented, and from that point onwwards, the three were inseperable. Emile still knows very little about his past and feels as if Naoko and Guy are hiding something from him, but he's found no reason to question the authenticity of their love for him. |
